UBC Library Card
Although TRIUMF is located on the UBC campus, TRIUMF employees are not UBC employees, and are not automatically eligible for full UBC library access.
There are two ways for TRIUMF employees to obtain this access.
TRIUMF employees with UBC adjunct status
TRIUMF employees who have a joint or dual appointment with UBC can obtain a UBCcard by going directly to the UBC Carding Office in the UBC Bookstore.
The UBCcard also allows access card to some UBC facilities such as the gym and aquatic centre, and can even be used as a debit card. It is automatically renewed every year while the UBC appointment is active.
Other TRIUMF employees
If you do not have a joint appointment at UBC you can apply for a library card at the Koerner library. Your TRIUMF-employee status (BAE, technician, student, …) will be checked against a list provided by TRIUMF, to determine the appropriate library-card type that will be issued.
If you have been employed at TRIUMF for less than a year, then ask TRIUMF HR for a letter that confirms TRIUMF employment and status. This will avoid a wasted trip to Koerner library when the TRIUMF employee-list at Koener Library is out-of-date.
Library cards obtained in this manner must be renewed in person at Koerner library.
